Final, April 2008 -Implementation Plan (This is a large document and may take a few minutes to download!)

UPDATE ON THE BLM PARCELS PROJECT

A quick summary- in April 2004, the Bureau of Land Management issued its Snake River Resource Management Plan (SRRMP).  The Plan called for the transfer of 24 parcels of land (over 1,000 acres ) in Teton County all of which lay along the Snake River.  The parcels stretch along the river from the southern boundary of Grand Teton National Park to the South Park Bridge.  The SRRMP called for the parcels to be transferred to other public agencies to be managed for public recreational access and wildlife habitat.  The Plan did not outline a process to make these transfers.  The Snake River Fund, with the support of the BLM, contacted the various agencies that could participate in these transfers and the Snake River Parcels Task Force was created. Its goal is to produce an implementation plan for the SRRMP. Click on this link to view the SRRMP.

>This document has a lot of great information about the parcels and the natural resources included.  There are also good maps of the area and the individual parcels.  Click on this link to view a map of the parcels.

Fast foward to summer 2006.  In July, the Task Force, finalized its decision to hire a natural resource planning firm to assist with the production of the implementation plan.  ERO Resources, Inc, based in Denver, CO. was hired and initial meetings were held.  ERO staff, along with Task Force members, spent three days visiting and taking inventory of the parcels.  ERO will be putting together a preliminary parcel analysis report based on these visits, interviews with the Task Force members and parcel information provided by the BLM, Wyoming Game and Fish, the Snake River Fund, Jackson Hole Land Trust, Teton County and the Bridger-Teton National Forest. That report is available for your review now (see link below).  We have had multiple meetings with adjacent landowners, stakeholder groups and the general public since the report has come out.  ERO is currently compiling all of the input that has been accumulated as well as reviewing the public input submitted during the original Environmental Impact Statement process.  They will incorporate these comments into the Draft Final Report that will be out by the middle of November.  There will be a limited opportunity to give input and make comments at that point in the process.  If you see something in the information below that you have questions or concerns about feel free to give us a call or drop us an e-mail at info.snakeriverfund.org.
